Using Coding Suggestions in an Encounter

After Wavo generates a note, the Coding tab can suggest ICD-10, E/M, and HCC codes from that visit. Always review codes before you use them in billing.

Coding suggestions are part of Wavo’s advanced clinical tools (Intelligence and organization plans that include them). If you do not see Coding, it may be hidden in Settings or not included in your plan.

Show the Coding tab

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Under sidebar tabs, turn Coding on.

On an encounter, after the note is generated, open Coding in the details panel.

What you will see

Depending on the visit, Wavo may show:

  • Suggested Codes

  • ICD-10

  • E/M Coding Suggestion

  • HCC

These are starting points from the encounter content. They are not a claim submission and they are not a guarantee of reimbursement.

How to use the suggestions

  1. Finish and review the clinical note first. Better notes make better code suggestions.

  2. Open Coding.

  3. Compare each suggestion with the documentation and your usual coding workflow.

  4. Copy the codes you accept into your EMR or billing system.

If you change the note substantially, reprocess or refresh the encounter before you rely on older suggestions.

Coding is not on the mobile app

Review coding on the web. On your phone you can capture the visit and copy the note; use the website for Coding.
