Troubleshooting Microphone Access on the Wavo Mobile App

The Wavo Health app needs microphone access to capture visits. If **Start** does nothing, or you see a **Microphone Access** alert, follow the steps for your phone.

This article is for the native Wavo Health app. If you are recording in a browser (Safari or Chrome) instead, see Troubleshooting Microphone Permission Issues.

Why the app asks for the microphone

Wavo uses the microphone to capture the patient conversation. Without access, the app cannot start an encounter recording.

Allow access when the app asks

  1. Open Wavo Health and start an encounter.

  2. When you see the microphone prompt, tap Allow or Enable Microphone Access.

  3. Tap Start again.

If you denied access, the app shows Microphone Access with Open Settings.

Turn the microphone on in iPhone or iPad Settings

  1. Open the iOS Settings app.

  2. Scroll to Wavo Health.

  3. Turn Microphone on.

  4. Return to Wavo and tap Start.

You can also check Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and confirm Wavo Health is enabled.

Turn the microphone on in Android Settings

  1. Open Android Settings.

  2. Go to Apps → Wavo Health → Permissions.

  3. Allow Microphone.

  4. Return to Wavo and tap Start.

On some phones the path is Settings → Privacy → Permission manager → Microphone.

Still not recording?

  • Close other apps that might be using the microphone (another recorder, a video call, or a dictation app).

  • If a call just ended, wait a moment, open the encounter, and tap Resume or Start.

  • Check that the phone is not in a hardware mute / mic-block state (some Android cases and iOS accessories).

  • Force-close Wavo, reopen it, and try one new encounter.

  • Confirm you are in the Wavo Health app from the App Store or Google Play, not a browser bookmark.

Calls and interruptions are different from permission problems

If capture was working and then stopped during a call, that is expected. Wavo saves audio and waits for Resume so the phone conversation is not recorded. See Recording in the Background and During Interruptions.
