Wavo Health on iOS and Android is designed for visits where you cannot keep the app on screen the whole time. Capture can continue in the background. Some interruptions still stop the microphone — and that is intentional.
What continues in the background
Once a visit is Capturing:
You can lock the phone.
You can switch to another app.
A capture timer stays visible so you can confirm the visit is still being recorded.
On iPhone, a Live Activity can appear on the Dynamic Island and lock screen. It shows capture status and a timer only — never a patient name.
On Android, an ongoing notification such as Capturing / Visit in progress stays visible while the microphone is in use.
Tap the Live Activity, lock-screen pill, or capture notification to return to the visit in Wavo.
What does not stop capture
Notification banners and other app sounds do not stop capture by themselves.
What pauses capture
Incoming phone or FaceTime calls must take the microphone. When that happens:
Wavo saves the audio recorded so far.
The visit is marked Interrupted or Paused.
Capture does not resume automatically. That way the phone conversation is not recorded into the encounter.
When you are ready, open Wavo and tap Resume.
If another app takes the microphone, you will see the same Interrupted state. Tap Resume after that app releases the microphone.
Reduce interruptions before a visit
For the fewest interruptions:
Open Profile.
Open Capture interruptions.
Read the guidance for notifications, calls, and the lock screen.
Optionally turn on Remind me to enable Focus.
Enable Focus or Do Not Disturb on your phone before you tap Start.
You can still receive a call. If you do, pause/save behavior above still applies.
Leaving the encounter sheet
You can close the encounter sheet while a visit is capturing or paused. A bar at the bottom of the app shows Capturing, Paused, Interrupted, or Saving recording. Tap it to return to the visit.
If you pause and close the sheet, Wavo still saves that audio segment.
Signing out or force-closing the app
Do not sign out while a capture or upload is in progress. The app will warn you if there are Unuploaded Captures.
If you swipe the app away mid-recording, reopen Wavo as soon as you can. In most cases you can Resume and Wavo will recover the saved audio. A force-quit in the middle of a file is not always recoverable. If the encounter looks incomplete, open Profile → Storage. See Recovering Saved Recordings if an Upload Fails.
