Sorting Encounters by Date

How to Sort

  1. Navigate to Encounters: From the left sidebar, click “Encounters” to view your list of clinical encounters.

  2. Find the Sort Button: Look for the chevron icon in the top-right corner of the encounters list.

  3. Toggle Sort Order:

    • Click the chevron to switch between:

      • Newest First (default): Most recent encounters at the top.

      • Oldest First: Earliest encounters at the top.

    • A notification will confirm your selection (e.g., “Sorted by Newest First”).

Visual Indicators

  • Newest First: The chevron points upward (↑).

  • Oldest First: The chevron points downward (↓).

Date Grouping for Easy Navigation

Encounters are automatically organized into date groups to help you find patient interactions quickly:

  • Today: All encounters from the current day.

  • Yesterday: Encounters from the previous day.

  • Recent Dates: Displays the month and day (e.g., “August 15”).

  • Older Dates: Shows the full date, including the year (e.g., “August 10, 2023”).

These date groups remain visible while scrolling, making it easy to reference specific time periods.

Sorting While Searching

Your sort preference works seamlessly with the search function:

  • Consistent Sorting: When you search for encounters, the results maintain your chosen sort order (Newest First or Oldest First).

  • Preserved Date Groups: Search results still display date groupings (e.g., “Today,” “Yesterday”) for clarity.

  • How to Search:

    • Use the search bar at the top of the Encounters section to find specific encounters.

    • Results will reflect your current sort preference.

Tips for Using Encounter Sorting

  • Quick Access: Use “Newest First” to view your most recent encounters instantly.

  • Historical Review: Switch to “Oldest First” when analyzing past patient data.

  • Sticky Date Groups: Date groups stay visible as you scroll, helping you navigate long lists.

  • Persistent Preference: Your sort setting remains active until you change it or close the application.

Additional Notes

  • The sorting preference applies to both the main Encounters list and search results, ensuring a consistent experience across your workflow.

  • Sorting does not affect the underlying data—it only changes how encounters are displayed.
