Whether you require a session summary or specific details, the Wavo Assistant delivers answers based on encounter data.

What Is the Wavo Health AI Assistant?

The AI Assistant is a built-in tool that allows you to ask questions about:

  • A single encounter, or

  • All encounters for a specific patient (when a patient is assigned)

It’s designed to help you:

  • Summarize key information such as diagnoses, symptoms, and medications

  • Highlight important observations from a session

  • Identify trends and patterns across encounters

  • Receive suggested follow-up actions based on available data

The AI Assistant only uses data from your Wavo Health encounters, helping maintain privacy and compliance standards.

How to Use the AI Assistant

Step 1: Access the AI Assistant

  1. Sign in to Wavo Health at
    https://secure.wavo.health/en/sign-in

  2. Open a clinical note from your dashboard or patient profile (this can be a past encounter or a demo note).

  3. On the right side of the screen, click the AI Assistant tab to open it.

Step 2: Ask Questions About a Single Encounter

When viewing a specific note, the AI Assistant answers questions based on that encounter’s transcription and clinical note.

Example questions:

  • “What medications were mentioned in this session?”

  • “What follow-up actions were suggested?”

  • “What could be the underlying cause of the patient’s abdominal pain and diarrhea?”

Type your question into the input field at the bottom of the AI Assistant panel and press enter.
The AI will respond with a concise, context-aware answer based on the session data.

Step 3: Explore Insights Across Encounters

If the note is linked to a patient, you can ask questions that span multiple encounters.

  1. From the note, click the patient’s name to open their patient dashboard.

  2. The dashboard displays all encounters along with key metrics such as blood pressure, heart rate, and glucose levels.

  3. Use the AI Assistant from the patient dashboard to ask cross-encounter questions.

Example questions:

  • “What trends do I see in this patient’s blood pressure over the last 6 months?”

  • “List all medications prescribed to this patient in the past year.”

  • “Summarize this patient’s past diagnoses.”

Step 4: Review AI-Generated Insights

Each clinical note includes an Insights section where the AI proactively highlights important information:

  • Key observations
Notable details such as abnormal vitals or concerning symptoms.

  • Follow-up suggestions
Potential next steps, like scheduling follow-ups or ordering tests.

  • Private notes
During real-time transcription, Wavo may surface private notes for your review—details flagged by the AI that may not have been explicitly stated by the patient.

These insights are meant to support your clinical judgment, not replace it.

Querying Uploaded Document Attachments

If you’ve uploaded supporting documents—such as lab results, imaging reports, or referral letters—the AI Assistant can reference them when answering your questions.

How it works

  • Upload files (PDFs, Word documents, text files, or images) to the Notes and Context section of an encounter.

  • Wavo extracts text from your uploads. A green checkmark indicates the content is ready.

  • The AI Assistant can then reference this information when responding to your queries.

Example questions:

  • “What were the key findings in the lab report?”

  • “Summarize the referral letter from the specialist.”

  • “Are there any abnormal values in the uploaded test results?”

  • “What medications are listed in the uploaded records?”

The AI draws from your uploaded documents, encounter transcription, and notes to provide answers.

Always verify AI-generated responses against the original documents.

Tips for Getting the Best Results

  • Be specific
Focused questions lead to more relevant answers (for example, “What was the patient’s chief complaint?” instead of “Tell me about the patient.”).

  • Use alongside Insights
Combine manual questions with the Insights section to get a fuller picture of the encounter.

  • Leverage follow-up suggestions
Use AI-suggested next steps to support continuity of care and care planning.
